Class 11 Final Eurythmy, 2023

Vibrant Viva Freedom with Responsibility: Class 11 2023

We wish to invite and welcome you to this year’s upcoming joyous and vibrantly uplifting Michael Oak Class 11 Eurythmy Performance on Thursday the 30 November at 11h50 for the school and at 19h30 for the public in Michael Oak’s Big Hall. I wish to heartily acclaim and cheer the current Class 11s for their dynamic and “gees” in rising to their movement potential as we reach the summit of their Class 11 year’s movement project.

This article briefly highlights one of Michael Oak Waldorf’s key themes that we have explored in movement: integrating vibrant viva freedom with responsibility and dynamically overcoming obstacles with excellence. Our opening whole Class 11 group piece is Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”, which is a Spanish title translated as “Long Live Life”. The song’s title was taken from a 1954 painting by 20th-century Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who suffered immense pain through prolonged poor health, enduring polio, a broken spine, and a decade of chronic pain. Despite this she was able to channel her pain productively into artistic creations. This example of a determined resilience to overcome adversity and become productive in spite of all the challenges and negativity is remarkable and a shining example in overcoming obstacles that arise in most undertakings in life.

The Programme comprises a selection of 8 different music eurythmy pieces, which the class 11s chose themselves.

I wish to give a further cheer to the Class 11s for their inspired capacity to work in their own time and stretch themselves. Their developed maturity and unique “gees” to rise to their potential in working eurythmically on Viva La Vida and all their pieces is to be applauded. Congratulations!
